Plant Manager - Brady, TX (EPCD) | Momentive Specialty Chemicals | Brady, TX

Job Objective:
This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Brady, Texas plant for the Oilfield Technology Group (OTG). Responsibilities include the leadership and direction of the workforce, recruiting and training of associates, process efficiencies, process & project engineering coordination, and the implementation of all company policies and programs as directed by the Manufacturing Manager of OTG.

Essential Functions:
EH&S:
  • Maintain plant operating guides, make regular improvements to them, and assure that training is sufficient so that all Associates comprehend these guides.
  • Lead the plant safety committee - work to monitor and improve safety.
  • Emphasize safety during daily contacts with personnel.
  • Ensure that all requirements in the Momentive's EHS Management System are followed.
  • Review all incident investigation, process hazard analyses, operator certification check sheets, annual procedure reviews, confined space permits, and all Management of change documents.
  • Responsible for site compliance of environmental, health & safety regulations and requirements internal and externally
  • Interact with the community and regulatory agencies on environmental issues.
  • Identify and prioritize environmental improvement opportunities.
  • Promptly report environmental incidents to appropriate authorities and within Momentive using appropriate means.

QUALITY:
  • Lead and maintain plant quality programs and systems to produce high quality products that meet customer requirements.  
  • Investigate quality problems and take action to prevent recurrence.
  • Use structured problem solving techniques, analytical tools, and teamwork to improve quality and unit performance. Approve master recipes.

PRODUCTIVITY / FINANCE / SIX SIGMA / SUPPLY CHAIN:
  • Monitor all plant costs, and explain adjustments and variances.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce expenses and takes action to implement cost saving projects and procedures.
  • Develop operating and capital budgets and maintain cost within the approval budgets.
  • Responsible for Site capital project initiation and completion.
  • Control inventory reporting and levels to meet objectives.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction and productivity improvement projects.
  • Responsible for SOX site compliance.
  • Responsible for Six Sigma programs.
  • Responsible for plant schedule optimization and compliance

HUMAN RESOURCES:
  • Ensure compliance with Momentive policies.
  • Train and develop associates.
  • Communicate plant objectives to associates.
  • Encourage employee involvement in team activities.
  • Approve hiring of all salaried and hourly associates.
  • Recognize good performance and provide corrective feedback as needed.
  • Perform annual performance appraisals as required.
  • Monitor municipal, county and state/provincial human resources legislation and recommends action when needed. 

Education/Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years experience in supervision/management.
  • B.S. Degree Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Math and statistics skills.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Problem solving skills. Computer and communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise, lead and motivate subordinates.
  • Experience in ISO-9000.
  • Training or experience in SPC.
  • Training or experience in SAP.

Special Requirement Details:
Physical: Walking, driving, standing, lifting, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, fingering, talking, hearing and seeing.

Aptitudes: Must possess the ability to understand the meaning of words and their ideas, as well as instructions and their underlying principles. Perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately, and possess eye-hand motor coordination.

Temperaments: Must have the ability to accept responsibility, perform duties under stress, adapt to situations requiring preciseness, and adapt to changing duties and responsibilities.
